Vocabulary

Snug (adj.) –smth comfortable, warm, and cozy , well-protected from the weather or cold.
“Still, once a fire is crackling, it is a warm, snug shelter.”

Bold as brass - have too much confidence.
“She marched into the shop, as bold as brass, and demanded her money back.”

Ransom (noun.)-  money that is paid in order to free someone who has been captured or kidnapped.
“The kidnappers demanded a ransom of one million dollars.”

Whirl (verb) - to move in a circle or similar curve especially with force or speed.
“She whirled around to face him.”

Uncanny (adj) – to be smth or smb who is beyond what is normal or expected.
“They have an uncanny ability to predict the weather.”

Oaf (noun) - a large, clumsy, dim-witted individual who tends to break things.
“That stupid oaf is always knocking things over.”

Quivering (verb) - to shake or move with a slight trembling motion.
“Her lips quivered when she heard the bad news.”

Whim (noun) - a sudden wish, desire, decision.
“It's hard to predict Amy's whims.”

Beatnik (noun) - a young person who was part of a social group in the 1950s and early 1960s that rejected the traditional rules of society and encouraged people to express themselves through art.

Barefaced lie - a shameless falsehood.
“Bill could tell a barefaced lie with a straight face.”

Precautions(noun)-an action taken to avoid a dangerous or undesirable event
“They took every precaution to ensure that their journey would be safe and enjoyable.”

Bargain (noun) - an agreement in which people or groups say they will do or give something in exchange for something else.
“I think everyone involved was satisfied with the bargain we made.”
